Course Objectives
On completing this course delegates will be able to:-

The course assumes little or no previous knowledge of the Solaris operating system and builds to give delegates an in-depth view of this rich operating system. The version used on this course is Solaris X86 version 10

Course Prerequisites

The course is designed for delegates with little or no knowledge of the UNIX operating system. Delegates attending this course should have an understanding of a command line operating system and have keyboard and mouse skills. A basic understanding of networking principles would also be an advantage.

Use basic command set to list, copy ,move and delete files.
Use the KDE desktop and the graphical management tools
Describe the Solaris file system structure and be able to navigate the file-system.
Use the vi text editor to create and edit text and configuration files.
Describe file permissions and be able to set permissions on files and directories.
Schedule and control processes using background processes, cron and at.
Set-up and control the printing system.
Understand the device file naming system
Use the tar and mt tape drive commands
Add users and groups and be able to customise a user's environment
