Objectives |

| The
course assumes little or no previous knowledge of the Solaris operating
system and builds to give delegates an in-depth view of this rich
operating system. The version used on this course is Solaris X86
version 10.
Duration 4 days Course Prerequisites The course is designed for delegates with little or no knowledge of the UNIX operating system. Delegates attending this course should have an understanding of a command line operating system and have keyboard and mouse skills. A basic understanding of networking principles would also be an advantage. |
Use basic command set to list, copy ,move and delete files. Describe the Solaris file system structure and be able to navigate the file-system. Use the vi text editor to create and edit text and configuration files. Describe file permissions and be able to set permissions on files and directories. Schedule and control processes using background processes and cron. Set-up and control the printing system. Add disk drives and tape systems to the system and understand the device-special-file naming system used under Solaris Check the file systems for errors. Control tape drives using the mt command Backup and restore files and directories Install application packages. Set-up TCP/IP networking Add and remove network cards and other hardware devices. Set-up remote graphical users using XDMCP Set-up a networked file system (NFS) and file shares to Windows Systems (SAMBA) Install and set-up an Apache Web Server |
